Above you see a very simplified version of a portrait series I am trying to get funded through IndieGoGo.com. The concept is pin up interpretations of some of our favorite Marvel and DC comic book characters. I plan on making them very cinematic, with anywhere between 2-3 “panels” to help mimic the story telling of a comic book strip.
I have concepts for quite a few characters, including, but not limited to, Superman, Captain America, Galactus, Wolverine, Storm, Spiderman, etc.
The Superman image above has the basic idea, but it is no where near the finished product, since I am not funded and lacked a lot of the tools that I need to make this as great as it is in my head.
I’m trying to photograph 12 characters, which will all require professional hair and make up, props, costumes, accessories, and maybe some set building. I’ll also need a lot of help on set when I go out into the world to do this, as I carry around some pretty hefty lighting equipment among other stuff.
$800 is the goal for my campaign, which will roughly cover the hair and make up for all of the models, however, I probably need around $1000-$1200 total to cover all of that, plus the costumes and such.
I want to stress that I do not want these to look like I just went to the local Halloween store and bought a skimpy superhero costume. My goal is to make these very classic pin ups, but with a superhero twist that is both obvious, but subtle (if that makes sense).
